How exciting would it be to step onto the land where your ancestors lived? While some families immigrated, some of their immediate family did not. That’s what happened in my mother’s family. My moms’ great-grandfather Hugh Mahon left Ireland and arrived in Canada in 1881. He left behind his mother and father. Maybe he thought he would return for a visit one day but Hugh died in 1895 in Toronto.
My dream research and travel goal is to go to Ireland and walk where my Mahons’ have walked. It begins with the research I do from Canada. My challenge is that I am not 100% sure where Hugh Mahon was born. His brother William was born in Scotstown, Monaghan, Ireland. Once I research all I can on this family here in Canada then I will plan my ‘travel” research to Ireland.
Research and travel is for everyone. I am excited about the Discovery Cruise, an 8 Day, 5 Country Viking cruise. The 5 countries are Hungary, Czech, Slovakia, Austria and Germany. Go to www.discoverycruise.ca for more information.
I look forward to helping you research your families before we leave Canada.
