How things have changed! Today we can access records from the Internet or at a local Family History Centre run by volunteers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The travelling is cut back but what a shame. It was lots of fun visiting Fredericton and even the local cemeteries. Walking the streets that my dad and his family walked gave life to the history.
Today there is a trend to combine research with travelling again. There are many conferences, bus trips and even water cruises that combine sightseeing with family history research. I liked this trend so much that Debbie Marks of Marks in Time and I have created a Discovery Cruise down the Danube River. This is an 8 Day, 5 Country, river cruise with Viking Cruses. Cruisers will complete searches before we go, learn how to preserve their story and have the opportunity to visit archives in the major cities we visit.
